Term 3 Week 4

Questions

1) Pg 4: Her world’s a stage

Reflection Questions:

Do you consider yourself an artistic person?

What are your opinions of the theatre scene in Singapore?

2) Pg 10: Drink-and-Eat MRT Riders on the rise

Reflection Question:

How do you feel about MRT commuters eating and drinking blatantly on the train?

Answers

1) I do consider myself an artistic person. I can draw quite well through observational drawing. If i were to use my imagination, that would be quite difficult to achieve. I am only good at drawing as for painting, people says that my painting is very ugly. I also likes to listen to music. Sometimes i would sing along. Normally, i would do it when my parents are not around. So far, only a few people have heard me singing but until now i have not get back their comments about my singing.

I think the theatre in Singapore is quite luxurious. I have not been to a theatre in Singapore But i think people who loves to advance on their acting or plays should go there to learn.

2) Sometimes, people need to take at least half an hour to one hour ride to their destination. Eating sweets is fine if they do not litter wrappers onto the floor. but if they drink sweet drinks or eat food like burgers then they are being very inconsiderate as they should not eat food at the MRT. If we are not allowed to even drink water, then they have gone overboard.

Term 2 Week 2 (30th March) Article: “Sorry guys, these lots are not for you” – ‘Home’ Section (Pg B1)

Question 1:
What were some of the reasons cited in the article why there was a need to have parking lots for women only in these buildings?

Question 2:
(a) In your opinion, do you think it is necessary to allocate parking lots for women only? Why?
(b) Which group of people do you then feel should be allocated such priority parking? Explain.

Answer 1:
It is to help married women, especially those with young children. It MAkes it more convenient for married women with children because the parking lots is just near the entrance and they only have to walk up the ramp to reach the entrance. It is also less tiring for women to reach the building for the ones who were wearing high heels.

Answer 2:
(a) I find it quite acceptable if it does not go overboard. If they are really going to cater to Ladies-only lots they should not occupy more than 1/8 of the carpark. Generally, to other people, this is unfair because women with children are given the priority for it and other people had to find it themselves.

(b) i think it is the families with children who really needs this lots more than married mother with children because when they load and unload prams, it prevents parents from accidentally sratctching neighbouring cars when they unload prams.

Ink Corporated! Week 3 article=D

Question 1:
What are some reasons stated in the article why some people choose to have body art like tattoos or piercings done on parts of their boy.

Question 2:
(a) What are some imppressions you would form of a person whose body is covered with tattoo?
(b) Would you consider getting a tattoo in future? Why?
Answer 1
Many people do this because they wanted to be different and special from others and by doing this they felt that they are a centre of attraction. Young people felt that this a trend of fashion where tattoos are fashionable in terms of marking their bodies wth beautiful pictures. Some people even thought that by doing it this is the only way to pent up stress and pressure.
Answer 2
a) My impressions would immediately change because it is human's nature! I believe everybody would think that this person is not a good fellow. But it is generally better to those who smoke. I really DETESTS people smoking because their mindset is not logical. I have a few uncles who have tattoos , smoke and went to prison before. I felt that we should not judge a person by its cover as what we see may not be true. Maybe they have the tattoos for some particular reasons.
b) NO WAY, NEVER! i would never do things that hurt myself for example tattooing and smoking. This is the two top most priority that i will not do in the future life! Because you may find it fashionable by doing it but after that you will regret. This is an advice to people who are considering to have tattoos 'PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE MAKING A GRAVE DECISION'. When you are tattooed, there is no way that you can remove the tattoos unless you go for tattoos removal. Only that you will be wasting your parents hard earned money and the pain suffered is twice. Overall i will not have tattoos in the near future.

Sharp rise in girls under 16 having sex

Question 2
i felt disgusted by this article because the girls who have premarital sex is gradually increasing.i felt that these girls should think wisely before making a grave decision of having sex because they may not know the dangers of it because they may thought that they are mature in their thinking and will be responsible for their own actions. Some will and some won't. If my best friend were to tell me that she has been engaging in sex, my first reaction was OH MY GOD! But when i regained my senses i will request her to go to a counsellor or a social worker to look for advices to see if he or she could solve this problem if she wants to. Another option was to see a doctor straight away. It was to check if she has been pregnant or have contracted some kinds of diseases like AIDS or STds. Overall i will not encourage anyone to have premarital sex.
